Blazer, ribbon, pleated skirt: read the ingredient list of Fuu Hououji’s card and it sounds like a school uniform. Read the card itself — the 9 of Diamonds of the CLAMP exhibition deck — and one thing stops it from ever looking like one. The top and the bottom sit in the same green family.
Fuu is the Magic Knight of wind in Magic Knight Rayearth, partnered with the Mashin Windam. On the surface she is all gentle politeness: a soft smile, courteous speech, calm and kind and unhurried, the sort of person whose thoughts are hard to read. Behind that mild impression her judgement and insight are sharp — quick to grasp a situation, good at negotiation and at the psychological game, and quite capable of saying the most cutting thing in the room without ever dropping the smile. Her wind magic is strong on healing and defence, but it is not support-only: she attacks with blades of wind and binds enemies in place. She is the one who holds the other two together.

What Is This Look?

Thin round glasses. Below them, a deep green blazer worn over a white collared shirt, a dark ribbon tie at the neck.
The skirt is in the blazer’s green family: fully pleated, and on the card it streams out behind her in the wind — her element, drawn as fabric. The card does not let its exact length be judged, so for the daily look the pleats are proposed at around knee length. Against the green, the white of the shirt and the dark of the ribbon give the contrast.
The card shows no shoes, so the footwear is a proposal: dark brown loafers to hold the formal line, white sneakers to let the shirt’s white carry the bottom half instead.
The Point

The point is that one colour family, worn top and bottom, is enough to move a uniform composition out of uniform territory. A blazer with a pleated skirt reads as schoolwear when the pieces contrast the way uniforms do — dark jacket, different skirt, white between them. Bring the jacket and the skirt close in tone and the same pieces become a setup: two garments chosen as one decision, not issued as a set.
It suits her. The look reads mild at a glance, and its one strong decision sits in plain sight, exactly the way Fuu does. The decoration concentrates at the ribbon on the neck, and the setup is already neat on its own — the thin round glasses add an intellectual finish to it.
Let the two greens drift apart and the uniform reading comes back. The mechanism is that simple, and that stealable.
Styling Tips

- Keep the blazer’s and skirt’s greens close in tone and brightness. That closeness is what makes it read as a setup.
- Build around the ribbon, and keep other accessories to a minimum.
- Loafers keep the look neat. Sneakers carry the shirt’s white down to the feet and lighten it.
- Thin round frames are the proposal for the glasses — they keep the impression softer than a heavy frame would.
- For the daily version, pleats at around knee length. In this look the matched tone matters more than the length.
- The palette stays green, white and one dark accent.
