Pokémon Store Korea Badge Set Review – Nine Months Collected, and It Still Isn’t Over

Quick Verdict

All nine badges are finally in hand — and the event still is not finished. The Pokémon Store Korea online badge event ran from March to November, one badge per month for spending at least ₩100,000, and completing the set only qualifies you for a separate display-frame gift whose application process has not even been announced yet. Beautiful badges, enormous commitment.

How did the event work?

From March through November, the Korean Pokémon Store’s online shop included one badge with each month in which the same account spent at least ₩100,000. Miss a month and the set could never be completed. Customers who collected every badge became eligible for a separate frame gift event.

What do the badges look like?

Each badge pairs that generation’s three starter Pokémon with Pikachu, set against a glitter-filled “30” numeral with a gemstone at its center, all inside an ornate gold frame. They are big, heavy pieces — nothing like a typical free gift. The first one, March’s badge, carried Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, the starters I grew up with. The impact was strong enough that, honestly, I wanted every following one.

What does the complete set look like?

Laid out together, the nine badges interlock into a circle: the March Generation I badge sits in the center, ringed by Generations II through IX. It is clearly designed to be completed — which is exactly what makes the monthly grind hard to walk away from.

How much did the full set cost?

At least ₩100,000 a month for nine months — a minimum of ₩900,000 in purchases. By the end of each month I was lining up pre-orders so the next badge would be secured before the calendar turned. It feels like yesterday, and suddenly it is November. Joining an event that runs for more than half a year was, in hindsight, a very big mistake.

How do you get the frame?

Nobody knows yet. The official event page shows the frame in full — an octagonal wooden frame holding all nine badges in a circle around a 30th anniversary plate — but states that the frame’s detailed specifications and shipping schedule will be announced separately. I will be watching like a hawk for how applications open.

The set only becomes whole once that frame is on my wall — that is when this long event actually ends.
