Demon Slayer Gold & Silver Metal Playing Cards Review – Same art, four times, twice

Quick Verdict

  • Banpresto’s Demon Slayer metal playing cards come in gold and silver versions — actual metal cards, not a TCG, with no game function.
  • Only the A, J, Q, and K carry illustrations.
  • The gold deck features just four characters (Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Nezuko, Inosuke); the silver deck features the Hashira — Rengoku and Giyu on the Aces, Uzui, Iguro, and Tokito on the Jacks, Kanroji and Kocho on the Queens, Himejima and Shinazugawa on the Kings. Both decks repeat the same illustration across all four suits, and the jokers carry only the suit pattern.
  • I honestly could not tell what the product was aiming for, and I found it lacking even as a collectible.

What’s in the Box

The box front is black with a large Tanjiro illustration and a window showing the metal card inside — gold in one version, silver in the other. The product name reads 鬼滅の刃 トランプ 金2種, with the Banpresto and Bandai Spirits marks. The back of the box shows samples of both versions, labeled A (gold) and B (silver), and notes MADE IN CHINA.

Gold Version

Only the A, J, Q, and K are illustrated, and the character lineup is limited to four: Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Nezuko, and Inosuke. Each rank uses one single illustration repeated across all four suits with no variation. It genuinely looks like no thought was given to differentiating the suits.

Silver Version

The silver deck follows the same structure — illustrations on A, J, Q, K only — but with a Hashira lineup: Rengoku and Giyu on the Aces, Uzui, Iguro, and Tokito on the Jacks, Kanroji and Kocho on the Queens, Himejima and Shinazugawa on the Kings. Unfortunately, the silver deck repeats the same artwork across suits just like the gold one, so the stronger character lineup does not save it.

The Reuse Problem

This is the core issue with both decks. A standard deck gives a designer 16 face cards to work with, and this product fills them with effectively four unique images per deck. The jokers do not help — they carry only the suit pattern with no character art at all. For a franchise with as much artwork available as Demon Slayer, the lack of variety feels like a missed opportunity at best.

What Surprised Me

The metal finish itself looks good in hand — the gold has a rich shine and the silver a clean luster through the box window. That was the extent of the pleasant surprises. Flipping through and finding the identical illustration on every suit of each rank was the moment this product lost me.

Who It’s For

Collectors who specifically want metal Demon Slayer cards for the material itself, or fans of the Hashira who want the silver deck’s lineup regardless of repetition.

Who It’s Not For

Anyone expecting varied illustrations — the repeated artwork will disappoint. Also not for players looking for a usable deck, since these are metal collectibles with no game function.
