These are the Gushing over Magical Girls (魔法少女にあこがれて) swimsuit aurora acrylic cards from arma bianca’s AMNIBUS label — a full 10-type box built around newly drawn Chigusa Minori swimsuit illustrations. They are 1mm-thick acrylic collectible cards: not a TCG, and not paper cards either. The ten types split into five full-body cards and five close-up cards, all sharing one back design: a dark aurora finish with no illustration that throws a rainbow light streak under direct light. A single blind pack runs ¥990 tax included; the 10-pack box is ¥9,900 tax included, with one random card per pack — and an unopened box guarantees the complete set. The Villain-Side Cast
Going by the names printed on the card ribbons, the lineup covers five characters: Magia Baiser, the horned leader of the pack; Leoparde, the green-haired gunner; Nero Alice, the blonde with forehead crosses clutching an octopus plush; Loco Musica, winking under a sailor cap; and Leber Blume, cool in her blue hood. As the series’ villains — the Enormita crew — rather than the magical girls of justice, they bring a completely different energy from the usual heroic merch. The ten types are five full-body cards plus five close-up cards of the same five characters, issued as separate cards.
In Hand
The first surprise is the material. These are proper 1mm acrylic slabs — noticeably sturdier than paper cards, with a weight in hand closer to small display plates, though slightly thicker than you’d expect from a “card.” The fronts present the swimsuit illustrations in full, each framed with the character’s name ribbon, star and heart motifs, and a summer background. Flip one over and every card shares the same back: a dark, illustration-free aurora finish. Tilt it under a lamp and a rainbow light streak cuts across the black surface. That light-play is the real showpiece of the set, and it photographs best under direct light.
Who It’s For (and Not For)
For fans of the series who want the villain-side cast in illustrator-driven swimsuit artwork. For collectors who prefer sturdy acrylic cards over paper, and anyone who enjoys finish-forward goods — the aurora backs reward handling. Given the revealing illustrations, this is strictly for adult collectors comfortable with the series’ tone. Not for anyone looking for a playable card game — there is no game function here. Not for blind-pack gamblers hoping to complete the set from single packs; buy the unopened box. And not for anyone wanting the heroic magical-girl cast — this box is villains only.
A Note on the Series
Gushing over Magical Girls (manga by Akihiro Ononaka, serialized by Takeshobo since 2019) became a 2024 anime famous for pushing broadcast limits: it aired in three versions — the censored TV broadcast version, the partially uncensored “Akogare Ver.” (AT-X and streaming, R15+), and the fully uncensored “Cho Akogare Ver.” (Blu-ray/DVD, R18+). A second season was announced in October 2024, and the series is currently getting a terrestrial rebroadcast in Japan. Like To Love Ru, it’s one of those “how did this get on TV” properties — which is exactly why its merch has a dedicated following.
