Born in 1980. The deadpan baritone behind Gintoki and Kyon — and anime’s most famous ad-libber. Founded his own agency, AGRS, in 2020 and runs it as CEO.

Signature Role
Gintoki Sakata. A sugar-addicted ex-samurai running an odd-jobs shop in Kabukicho. Sugita has played him for twenty years — and returns in the 2026 film, Yoshiwara in Flames.
Masoukishin Cybaster
Debut Role
Shinji Kirihara. Sugita’s first regular anime role, at eighteen — he had debuted the year before in the radio-drama version, while still in high school.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Latest Role
Hiromi Higuruma. A defense lawyer who awakens as a sorcerer in the Culling Game — and turns the courtroom into his domain. Sugita’s turn in the January 2026 season became an instant fan favorite.
